Event #5 Super satellite summary

Last night was nothing short of a brilliant result for Independent Poker Events and everyone involved with the organisation of the night. 3 tournaments, £2,420 collected and 10 winners! First we had a £22 Sit n Go turbo for a seat into Manchester's MegaStack Event #2 (14th/15th May - £20k Guaranteed). With a 2,000 starting stack and a 5 minute clock, it wasn't long until 10 players became 9. First to act I raised it up with 99, Phil re-raised and Chris 4 bet putting me all in, I passed and Phil couldn't wait to get his chips in showing KK, Chris showed QQ and I threw my nines in face up. First card out on the flop was a 9, the whole table said 'how can you pass?' The turn card was one that Phil didn't want to see, a dreaded Queen, so my nines were dead and no help for Phil Gilby, he was the first victim at the hands of Chris Findlay. Steve Davies (Liverpool 250 winner in September 2010) was the overall winner beating Chris Findlay heads up and won the £220 seat for Manchester in May, well done Fella! It was a quirky little game and was over in 35 minutes, watch this space for more of these, great fun with plenty of banter. Not for the serious player! avoid of you're easily offended :)

At 8pm we started a £130 Palm Beach Big Game Satellite, winner takes all for May's instalment of the monthly game down in the 'big smoke'. Andy Bradshaw, Nick Slade, Simon Rimmer, Andy Ho, Steve Davies, Alistair Findlay, Michael Clarke, Anna Astley, Derek Kavanagh and Myself made up the 10 players for the PBBG satellite. After 3 hours play, MegaStack Event #1 and Event #4 winner Nick Slade; overcome young Michael Clarke's 4 to 1 chip lead heads up to win the £1,300 package. Well done again Nick!

MegaStack E#5 10TEN10 super satellite had an excellent turnout of 30 players and collected the maximum of £900 generating 8 seats and £20 consolation prize for 9th. On the first hand of the 10 handed final table, I got it in pre-flop after a raise and a re-raise with a woman known to the world as Sandra. Her AJ didn't have the power to beat my AK 'LOST ONE!' An orbit later I opened up the betting 4 times on the trot getting it through every time. On the 5th hand, I looked down at pocket 10's, the blinds were 1k/2k so I opened again to 5k from MP, Steven Haley, who was on the button, 3 bet me to 11k. I asked how much he had behind and I just had him covered, 'I'M ALL IN!' 'CALL!' 'SH*T!' He turned over pocket Aces! mmmmm great timing I thought. The first card out was the delicious 10 of Parsley clubs; and with no further help for Steve and he took home the £20 wooden spoon. Very unlucky Ste but well done to the other 8 players who bagged seats into Event #5 on May 6th 7th and 8th for the £10,000 Guaranteed!

Have you got a seat yet? Qualify online now or attend the next satellite on Tuesday May 3rd at 8pm.
